If there’s one food that just about everyone can agree they like, it’s pizza. A staple during sports-themed parties, kid parties, or a quick social gathering, pizza’s appeal is widespread and with its many different toppings, there are boundless ways to eat one. However, has the thought of a tortilla pizza ever crossed your mind? It only needs a single pan, the ingredients are easy to find, you can put just about any topping you can think of, and it’s even flexible enough to be used as a camping meal. The ingredients are largely pizza standards:
- Tortillas
- Toppings (i.e.: mushrooms, arugula, caramelized onions, eggplant)
- Tomato or marinara sauce, or olive oil and béchamel sauce
- Cheese (i.e.: goat cheese or a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan)
Start by finding a pan sufficiently large enough to accommodate your tortilla then sauté some vegetables or meat in olive oil and then move them over to a spare plate. Use some sizzling butter and the olive oil to ensure that the pizza remains nice and crisp. Put the tortilla into the pan, spread the sauce around, sprinkle the cheese, and then cover it all up with whatever toppings you chose.
Cook everything on medium heat until the pizza appears golden brown on the bottom, typically around three to four minutes. You may also want to cover it up to help the cheese melt a little more evenly. Slice it up and you’re ready to serve your tortilla pizza!
