Have you ever stopped and wondered how long it takes to heat up a tortilla? Unless you’ve got a professional grade stove, heating tortillas up one by one can be a painstakingly laborious process. What’s more, if you’re having guests over and the food you’re making involves tortillas, it can be highly inconvenient to prepare when time is of the essence. Microwaving is a convenient option but often these tortillas end up unevenly cooked and with a texture that just isn’t the same as using a pan.
To address this tortilla situation, a man based in Chicago has created what could possibly be the world’s first “tortilla toaster”. Called the Nuni, the toaster can prepare up to six corn, wheat, or flour tortillas at once, combining the power and perfection of a stove with the convenience of a microwave. One of the goals of the Nuni is to dramatically speed up the amount of time it takes to prepare tortillas so you can spend more time with friends and loved ones instead of being stuck in the kitchen. The toaster is also capable of toasting flatbreads such as pits and naan, boosting its flexibility.
Should you be interested in the Nuni, it’s currently seeking funding on Indiegogo and is expected to ship to backers later this year.
